Brandon chiropracticEvery body knows that going to see the chiropractor can offer up physical benefits. For instance, the vast majority of people schedule appointments because they’re seeking relief from chronic back or neck pain. However, there may be emotional benefits associated with treatment as well. Regular chiropractic care may reduce stress, improve quality of life, and increase feelings of wellbeing.

Much if this has to do with the fact that adjustment and manipulation of the spine improves the body’s ability to heal. With an immunological boost, you can more readily cope with the free radicals your body is faced with on a daily basis and stave off illness. How is this possible, you may be wondering? Well, your central nervous system is what controls all of the functions within your body and regulates nerve signals. So, if you have pinched nerves in your back or neck, there will be a disruption in the flow of information throughout your body.

This is where chiropractic adjustment comes into play. Adjustments can relieve pressure that has been placed on the nerves due to injury or repetitive motions or even bad posture. When the nerves are blocked off, you end up with a deficiency in brain-to-body communication. This makes your body release more cortisol as a result, which is your body’s stress hormone. Too much cortisol sends your body into constant flight or fight mode which doesn’t give it enough resources to heal.

So, going in for chiropractic adjustments reduces the pressure placed on your nervous system and opens up the channels for proper communication. Over time, this improves your body’s ability to heal and can even turn back the clock a bit on the aging process.  By reducing the physical stress placed on your body, these adjustments reduce your hormonal stress level. You feel calmer and more at ease as a result. That’s what happens when your nervous system functions as it’s supposed to.

All in all, it’s rather fascinating. The role stress has on the aging process is particularly profound because it can actually cause the creation of free radicals, which are what contribute to the onset of cancer.

Last but certainly not least, undergoing chiropractic treatments can be relaxing. Some may find it painful initially but after a few adjustments, your body will relax into the process and you’ll feel the stress leave you as you walk into the chiropractor’s office.
